GPP: Maegen, with your family growing and another baby boy arriving, what has this season of motherhood been teaching you most?
Maegen: This season has really taught me to slow down and enjoy the little moments. I tend to stay busy, but I’m learning it’s okay to rest, set boundaries, and fully enjoy time with my family.
GPP: How do you balance teaching part-time while also growing Grazing the South?
Maegen: Balance really comes down to boundaries and scheduling. Mondays and Tuesdays are dedicated to teaching and family time afterward. The rest of the week is focused on my business. I try to handle event prep, grocery shopping, and emails while my son is at daycare so I can be more present when he’s home. Of course, events sometimes spill into family time, but I do my best to protect that balance.
GPP: What inspired you to start your charcuterie business, and what has surprised you most about its growth?
Maegen: I was inspired while working with The Thirsty Ranch, helping with their mobile bar business. Watching Melissa build her own business gave me the confidence to pursue something of my own. Charcuterie was already something I loved doing, so it felt like a natural fit. What surprises me most is how quickly it has grown—from family and friends placing orders to now being part of large, beautiful events. It’s been exciting to watch it expand.
GPP: What are some of your favorite ways to make intentional memories with Riley before the new baby arrives?
Maegen: One of my favorite ways is to just listen and be present when he is asking me to play with him. He notices if I am still busy, or if I am not giving him all my attention. So I try my best to always give him my 100%. We have also planned camping trips for some one-on-one time before his baby brother arrives.
GPP: How has becoming a business owner changed the way you view your future as a mom?
Maegen: Owning a business has shown me that life and work can shift depending on the season you’re in. There are times I take fewer orders so I can focus more on my family, and other times I’m ready to fully chase my goals. I’ve always wanted my children to see that being a mom is important, but it’s also okay to pursue your passions and work hard for something you love.
GPP: What does your perfect family day look like?
Maegen: A perfect family day looks like waking up, cooking breakfast, and enjoying a slow morning. A beautiful sunny day is my favorite and what I thrive in! No matter what our weekend looks like, it’s usually spent outside. We are usually playing baseball, spending a day at the beach, or waking up in a favorite camping spot! After a fun-filled day, my perfect afternoon is sitting on the porch, having my husband grill out, and watching my son play.
GPP: What advice would you give another mom dreaming about starting her own business?
Maegen: My biggest advice is to just do it! It’s so easy to make excuses as to why not to do it but you would be surprised at all you’re capable of. It might not be instant big orders or a full schedule, but staying consistent will soon turn it into that.
GPP: What are you most looking forward to as you prepare to welcome your second son?
Maegen: I’m excited to slow down for a little while and focus on my family during maternity leave. I also cannot wait to watch Riley become a big brother. He’s already so excited, and I know he’s going to be so sweet with the baby.

Maegen Lewis and her husband, RJ, have been married for six years. Together, they have a four-year-old son, Riley, and another baby boy due in July. RJ works as a lineman for Utility Lines Construction Services and travels often, especially during hurricane season. Maegen teaches third grade part-time at Molino Park Elementary while also running her business, Grazing the South, which specializes in handcrafted charcuterie boxes and grazing tables for events. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with family and being outdoors.
