GPP: You and your husband both have full plates professionally. How do you intentionally protect family time in such a busy season of life?

LaChina: Robert and I are very intentional about protecting family time because we both know how easy it is for work to take over. Even though our schedules are full, we try to create small moments that matter—family dinners, checking in with each other at the end of the day, or simply spending time together without distractions.

We also love getting outside together when we can. Fishing has become one of those simple things our family enjoys doing. It gives us a chance to slow down, laugh, and just be together.

Sometimes protecting family time simply means putting the phones down and being present. Our kids see that we work hard, but they also see that family always comes first.

GPP: What has it been like parenting a college student, a high school athlete, and a baby all at once?

LaChina: It’s definitely a unique season of life! It can be busy balancing three very different stages of life, but it’s also incredibly rewarding because each child needs something different from me as a mom.

With Da’Sean, it’s about supporting his independence and watching him step into adulthood. With Malena, we’re in that phase of guiding her through big goals, athletics, and preparing for her future. Then with baby Myles, we’re right back to bottles, cuddles, and all the sweet moments that come with having a baby in the house.

Thankfully, Myles is a really great baby. He is not our biological child, but he is fully ours in love and commitment. In a few short months, he has brought so much joy, perspective, and tenderness into our home. This season has reminded me that family is built in many beautiful ways.

GPP: What has this season with a newborn taught you that you didn’t know (or maybe forgot) from earlier years of parenting?

LaChina: This season has reminded me just how fast time moves. When you’re in the middle of raising teenagers, you sometimes forget how small babies are and how quickly those little moments pass.

Having a newborn again has slowed me down. I’m more intentional about soaking up the cuddles, the late-night feedings, and even the chaos because I know how quickly those moments become memories.

GPP: How do you model work ethic and faith for your children in practical ways?

LaChina: I try to lead by example. I want them to understand that success doesn’t just come from talent, it comes from discipline, consistency, and showing up even when things are hard.

Faith is also a huge part of how I guide them. I always remind my children to stay grounded in their faith and allow God to lead them in everything they do. I tell them often that character is who you are when no one is watching. The choices you make when no one is looking matter the most.

I also encourage them to make a positive impression everywhere they go. When you walk into a room, carry yourself with integrity, kindness, and confidence—and when you leave, leave a lasting statement through the way you treated people and the example you set.

GPP: What role does your husband play in supporting both your family and your career, and how do you work as a team?

LaChina: Robert is truly my partner in every sense of the word. He supports my coaching career, my business, and everything that comes with our busy household.

We balance each other. When one of us is overwhelmed, the other steps in. He’s incredibly supportive and always reminds me that we’re building something together for our family. Having this kind of partnership makes all the difference.

GPP: How do you personally recharge and avoid burnout?

LaChina: Honestly, sometimes just slowing down and being present with my family is the best way for me to recharge. I also find peace in small moments—quiet mornings, conversations with my husband, or watching my kids do what they love.

Faith plays a big role for me as well. When life feels overwhelming, I remind myself to pause, pray, and refocus on what truly matters.

GPP: If you could encourage another mom who feels stretched between motherhood, marriage, and career, what would you tell her?

LaChina: I would tell her that it’s okay to not have everything perfectly balanced all the time. Motherhood is messy, beautiful, exhausting, and rewarding all at once.

Give yourself grace. Focus on the moments that matter most, and remember that the love and effort you pour into your family every day truly make a difference.
